What Is Sextortion? #AAH
Sextortion is a serious crime that occurs when someone threatens to distribute your private and sensitive material if you don’t provide them images of a sexual nature, sexual favours, or money.
The perpetrator may also threaten to harm your friends or relatives by using information they have obtained from your electronic devices unless you comply with their demands.
But how did they get your intimate footage? Watch this video to know more.
In an overwhelming majority, an ex partner, boyfriend, girlfriend, huband or wife is involved.
Even If an ex is involved, remember-
You may have agreed to share such images with them but didn’t give permission to circulate. This is intimidation & an offence.
Section 354 (c), Section 503/506, Section 383 of IPC and Section 67A/84C IT Act are applicable. It’s a punishable offense.
– Screenshot evidence, don’t delete
– Keep proof of all the threats as evidence
– File a written, formal complaint at cyber cell
– You can also file FIR at nearest police station
