Don’t Spread Misinformation On Audio Platform #AAH

We saw a rise of audio platforms during Covid lockdown especially as we craved human interaction after long period of working from home, massively restricted in our face-to-face meeting with friends or family. Notable amongst these platforms were Clubhouse & Twitter Spaces.

Audio platforms brought big relief as mediums of connect. People came together to share their interest, experiences, perhaps reduce some loneliness and evoke compassion.

However, over time, it also attracted speakers who were spreading misinformation. Self-proclaimed health experts talking about covid medications, vaccine hesitancy, even giving unqualified medical opinions! Then there was fueling hate against nation, misinformation on current events, around terrorism in Kashmir. Pornographic chats, targeting others, bullying others- making fun of one person- all these became common place.

We need to be really careful using these audio platforms, stop oversharing personal information with strangers there. Just like on any other social media platform. Propagating hate, inciting violence is of course punishable but also morally wrong.
